The BULLetin Round 1

7 Oct 2016 by Thomas Logan

Welcome back to NRCC Season 2016-17! After bathing in the premiership glory of the mighty Western Bulldogs, who let’s face it, overcame multiple odds and setbacks to claim the 2016 AFL Premiership, it’s time to switch our focus to cricket for season 2016-17.

What an exciting year ahead it will be for NRCC with a raft of juniors joining us at senior training and indeed getting some great experience playing in the 7th XI ‘father and sons’ team.

Brian I’Anson moves into his second year as Head Coach and the key message coming through has been for all players to ‘back themselves’ and ‘play their game’. Positive cricket no matter the situation is paramount.

Matt Scott was appointed 1st XI Captain after the departure of Leigh Jones who led the club to several grand final appearances and four club championships. Unfortunately for Matt he has required surgery on his shoulder and Dan Tucker will step up as 1st XI Captain in the meantime, congratulations to Dan who has been a long time servant of the club.

Welcome back to Ryan Peter-Budge who returns to NRCC from Ringwood! We look forward to seeing Budgie apply much of the skills and knowledge learned at premier cricket level at NRCC. Some key players to look out for early on, off the back of pre-season training include the Lachie clan of Reyment, Harvey and Gray, Shultzy, Luke McPhie, Leis brothers, Riggers and Dave Maddox.

A big thank you to our President Flavio and the NRCC Committee, sponsors, volunteers and supporters to prepare us for season 2016-17. You all provide every opportunity for our players to enjoy their cricket on and off the field. We are very appreciative of your hard work and support and look forward to repaying the faith throughout the year!

Round 1:

With significant rain over the past week or so (probably tears of joy from Bulldogs supporters!) only the 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI will play Round 1 in the 40 over one-day format. So, get along and support your mates by dropping in to one of the three games on Saturday.

1st XI vs Bayswater Park (Lilydale Reserve no. 1)

2nd XI vs Bayswater Park (Home)

3rd XI vs Croydon Ranges (Griff Hunt Reserve)

All games start at 1.00pm

Go Bulls!
Cheers
Slippa
